Guru in a Suit": someone who blends deep wisdom with executive presence — a person who can walk the boardroom and the meditation hall with equal grace.
I noticed over the year that there's a group of people that keep showing up in my coaching practice. They may be highly educated and successful in their own right, but comment that there's something missing. The themes were things topics like: They company keeps doing the wrong things for the wrong reasons, we have no directions anymore, people are unhappy, they let the person stay own who has gotten us in a law suit, maybe I should look elsewhere.
At the root of any of these complaints, was a misalignment with their core values. In many cases they had chose that company because there was alignment between the company and themselves or that over their peers, and something change. One of the key goals in coaching, then, is how can the coachee be the leader the organization needs? In other words, how can they be the change that's needed, the values the team needs, the guru in a suit.
